How to repair my damaged hair

Silk helps repairing damage hair- get healthy hair

An itchy scalp, dry hair, and split ends are such a nightmare. But don’t lose hope for repairing your damaged hair! We’ve got your back—and head—with a few hair repair tips.

Hydrate

We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: drink water! Your entire body, including your hair, needs you to replenish its water from the inside out.

To maintain your health, the most natural way on the entire planet to moisturize is to drink water. When you drink healthy amounts of water, you support your hair’s natural growth and repair.

Get regular haircuts

When you start to see split ends, this indication is one hint that your hair is damaged. If possible, get your hair trimmed before you see split ends. Once a single hair has split, the hairdresser must remove the entire end to prevent further damage.

After you notice dry ends, get into the salon as soon as possible. Damage will quickly spread up each hair, which will cause breakage. We recommend getting a haircut every six to twelve weeks.

Use leave-in conditioner

After you rinse out the post-shampoo conditioner with cool water, add a leave-in conditioner. This kind of conditioner can help your hair keep moisture to repair damage.

Rinsable conditioners and leave-in conditioners are different. So, be sure you follow the directions on each bottle. Leave-in conditioner will work throughout the time it’s on your head rather than just a few minutes in the shower.

Avoid dry shampoos

On an especially stressful day, we know how tempting it is to pick up the dry shampoo. Now and then, you can get away with spraying your hair down with these products.

But dry shampoo dries out your hair, which further damages it and does not allow for natural repair. Dry hair isn’t healthy, so do your best to add and retain moisture.

Put down the heating tools

When you want that perfect look for a special date or event, heated hair tools may seem like your friend. Styling with these tools is okay for special occasions.

But heat damages your hair, especially when you apply hot tools often. Don’t further damage your hair, but instead allow your hair time to rejuvenate between uses.

Use silk scrunchies

Putting your hair into a tie, or multiple ties, can pull, tangle, and damage your strands. Bare elastic, cotton-wrapped elastic, and telephone-wire ties are the worst hair-damage culprits!

If you must use a hair tie, consider a silk scrunchy alternative. Silk is made from a natural material that is much gentler. Hair can glide safely over a silk surface.

Sleep on silk

We recommend sleeping on silk for multiple reasons. We cannot understate how important a good night’s sleep is for your body.

Silk is made from a long, woven fiber of naturally occurring protein. This natural fabric allows your hair to retain its moisture and repair damage. Coupled with that leave-in conditioner, silk can help your hair stay moisturized.

Rest and replenish

When you don’t get enough sleep, your body releases excess cortisol, your stress hormone. Cortisol causes the fight-or-flight response.

The same hormone releases into your bloodstream when you are stressed out. Prolonged cortisol in your system is bad for every part of your body, from your scalp to your toes. When your scalp isn’t healthy, your hair isn’t healthy.

If you’ve ever touched silk, you know just how calming the fabric can be. Your best night ever is waiting for you to switch to silk. So, rest up!
